The Bangalore Club is the oldest club in the city founded in 1868. Built in the colonial style, it stands apart, from other clubs in the city, in terms of its architectural expression.
Located at the north western entry of the complex, Major General Bhatia Suite, constituted Tiger bay and a lounge bar, a party hall for around 100 people, a Coffee shop and all ancillary services to cater to these including kitchen areas and toilets. The alteration brief included re- housing of the existing facilities and new facilities including but not limited to a food court, travel desk, an ATM centre, dry cleaning centre, health and glow outlet plus an additional area for future expansion.
The challenge was in proposing a new structure, within the strong existing character of the complex. An interpretation of the colonial style in the modern context was the chosen form of expression - a bridge between the new and the old.
